Chadwick Boseman, late Hollywood actor best-known for films like Black Panther and Avengers, became a first-time Golden Globe winner on Sunday. He was awarded as the Best Actor in a Motion Picture- Drama for his movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which was his final film. 

Boseman died last year in August, 2020 at the age of 43 after fighting with colon cancer. The Golden Globe award was accepted by late actor’s wife Simone Ledward Boseman virtually via video conferencing.

Ledward broke into tears while she started giving her speech on the behalf of late husband. In her speech, she thanked a lot of people who were important to Boseman and helped him through his journey. 

Here’s Simone Ledward’s acceptance speech at Golden Globes 2021:

Initially, she started her speech by thanking God and his parents as Boseman would. She said, “He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices,” in tears.

Ledward tearfully carried on saying about Boseman that, “He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside all of us that tells you you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing in this moment in history.”

In her acceptance speech for the late Black Panther actor, she thanked a few people including George C. Wolfe, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Glynn Turman, Michael Potts, Dusan Brown and Taylour Paige.

The Golden Globe win comes after Boseman’s recognition from Film Independent, the Screen Actors Guild and the National Board of Review. The late actor made history as he became the first actor to earn four SAG nominations in one year. He was also awarded with Gotham Awards Tribute prize which his wife accepted on his behalf as well.
