Americans were left stunned on Tuesday night, September 7, 2022, when Regis University tweeted that their Northwest Denver campus had been put on lockdown following the sighting of an armed man. The university also notified that the Denver Police Department had been notified, who arrived quickly and began to secure the campus and clear buildings.

According to a tweet by Regis University’s Twitter handle, the armed man in question was seen carrying a long gun, possibly a shotgun, sometime before 9:30 pm on Tuesday. In subsequent tweets, the university authorities also urged the students to stay inside, obey the police officers on campus and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.

Gun violence is on the rise in the United States, however, many were surprised since the incident took place at a Jesuit educational institution. Let’s take a look at where the campus is in Denver, Colorado.

According to the website of Regis University, the Northwest Denver campus is adjoining Federal Boulevard in the city. It is located between Interstate 76 to the north and Interstate 70 to the south. To reach the campus, one needs to take the exit at Federal Boulevard and continue to Regis Boulevard or 50th Avenue. As many as seven entrances to the Northwest Denver campus of Regis University.

The seven entrances to the Northwest Denver campus are Ranger Way Entrance, Loyola Entrance, Loretto Entrance, Ignatius Entrance, Lot 5 Entrance, Match Pitch Entrance and Walker’s Farm Entrance. Among these, Lot 5 and Ranger Way share a single entrance and are allowed to be used by only residential students.
