A shooting took place at the Victoria Gardens Mall in Rancho Cucamonga and as said by Public Information Officer Gloria Huerta, the shots were fired at 7.14 pm.  

Law enforcement officials said that it was an “active police investigation.” The officials have also confirmed that the incident was confined to the parking area. People have also been sheltered inside stores.

Where is Victoria Gardens Mall?

Victoria Gardens is located 37 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and is popularly known as the Inland Empire. 

Victoria Gardens hosts more than 16 million shopper visits annually. 

Along with the great architecture, Victoria Gardens has a 1.2 million square foot, open-air town center at the heart of a 160-acre main street community.

The mall not only has several departmental stores, shops, restaurants, and movie theaters, but also has a performing arts center, and a  library, 55,000 square feet.  It also comprises office space, and 500 residential units.

The Victoria Gardens mall opened on October 28, 2004, with JC Penney, Macy’s and Robinsons- May as the anchors and it is owned by Queensland Investment Corp.  

Soon after a year of its opening, the mall increased the city’s sales tax income by 44%. 

Two years later in 2006, the anchor Robinsons-May store was converted to a Macy’s Men’s and Home Store.

The Cultural Center in the Victoria Gardens Mall has a performing arts center, and a multi-use reception hall, is owned and operated by the city of Rancho Cucamonga and it is located north of the shopping center between the two parking structures.

There are events held in the Cultural Center throughout the year like special programs during Christmas, the holiday season, farmer’s markets, car shows and many more. The mall has the first Bass Pro Shops in California, which specializes in merchandise used for hunting, fishing, and camping.
