Aimenn Penny was charged with one count of malicious use of explosive materials and one count of possession of a destructive, which led to his arrest on Friday. 

Who is Aimenn Penny? 

Aimen Penny is a 20-year-old from Ohio. The Justice Department announced his arrest for allegedly conspiring to burn down a local church that was planning to host a drag show over the weekend.

The police say that on March 25, Penny attacked the Community Church of Chesterlandd, in Chesterland, Ohio, with a Molotov cocktail. They say that he intended to burn the church down protesting the drag show. 

ABC News reports that Penny was part of a crowd that on March 11, protested a drag queen event in Wadsworth. Per the report, the group showed up carrying swastika flags and hurled homophobic slurs at the participants.

Apparently, Penny attended the event wearing military-style gear and was carrying a firearm. 

In fact, Penny has been found to have past records of engaging in racist and homophobic activities, per the affidavit file against him.

Last October, he was briefly detained and interviewed by the police for handing out racist flyers, identifying African Americans as “problem” and portending that a civil war is between the races.

 “PENNY stated that he was trying to protect children and stop the drag show event,” the affidavit noted. 

 “PENNY stated that night he became more and more angry after watching internet videos of news feeds and drag shows in France and decided to attack the church. PENNY stated that he would have felt better if the Molotov cocktails were more effective and burned the entire church to the ground.”

Per the report, his home revealed a handwritten manifesto, Nazi flag, and other incriminating objects.
