Jeanie Buss, owner of the NBA franchise Los Angeles Lakers recently got engaged to comedian Jay Mohr, a report by TMZ stated.

As per the report, Mohr proposed to Buss after five years of dating. The outlet claimed that an engagement ring spotted on Buss’s finger served as a clue of the engagement which has also been reportedly confirmed by close sources.

Who is Jeanie Buss?

Jeanie Buss is an American sports executive, born on September 26, 1961, in Santa Monica, California. She was born to Joann and Jerry Buss, an American businessman and the majority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers. She grew up with her elder brothers Johnny and Jim, and her younger sister Janie. Her parents divorced in 1972.

Buss started attending tennis meetings with her father at the age of 14. Three years later, she moved with her father to Pickfair in Beverly Hills. Buss attended the University Of Southern California (USC) where she graduated with honors in business.

Buss was appointed as the general manager of TeamTennis, a professional tennis league, at the age of 19. Buss has also served as the president of the Great Western Forum for four years.

In 2005, Buss was named one of the Top 20 Most Influential Women in Sports by Sporting News, and in 2011, Forbes called her “one of few powerful women in sports management”.

After the death of her father in 2013, she continued to lead the team’s business operations as well as oversaw its basketball operations alongside her brother Jim.

Buss also served as the President of the Lakers in 2013-14. In 2020, she became the first female controlling owner to guide her team to an NBA championship.

Buss is also the owner of WOW – Women Of Wrestling, an American women’s professional wrestling company.

Buss married American volleyball player Steve Timmons in 1990. They divorced after three years. She dated former Lakers coach and former New York Knicks President Phil Jackson for 17 years. In 2021, she officially announced her relationship with comedian Jay Mohr.
