The man was identified as Kyle Fernandez. He allegedly injured seven people on a road during a police chase.

Who is Kyle Fernandez?

Kyle Fernandez is 20 years old. He pled not guilty in Manhattan Supreme Court to an indictment charging him with second-degree assault and other offenses linked to the Midtown road rampage event that occurred on August 1. The judge gave him a severe warning as he stood in front of her, advising him to stay out of trouble with the law.

Justice Althea Drysdale in court said, “You now have two indictments before this court. That’s two cases … make sure there isn’t a third case. Mr. Fernandez, make sure you understand you’re not to come back with a third case, do you understand?”

Earlier, Fernandez was charged with second-degree assault, robbery, and criminal mischief; nevertheless, he was able to secure his release by paying $7,500 on bail. These accusations were related to an alleged assault on a woman that occurred in Manhattan on January 16. He hit her, grabbed her necklaces, smashed her phone, and finally sliced her wrist with the cracked screen, all in the name of committing bodily assault, according to a criminal complaint.

A judge set his bail at $50,000 during his arraignment in the vehicle chase case earlier this month at Manhattan Criminal Court. A few days later, Fernandez was able to post this bail. The bail amount was finally established at a lower level, even though prosecutors had sought that it be put at $100,000.
