A Naperville woman is being charged with murder in relation to the shooting death of a 33-year-old man at an Oakbrook Terrace hotel on Saturday night. The woman has been identified as Latrice Phillips.

Around 8:15 p.m., Oakbrook officers went to a report at the Hilton Suites on 10 Drury Lane and found Calvin Truitt III suffering from two gunshot wounds to his side and back. After being taken to a nearby hospital, Truitt passed away from his wounds.

Who is Latrice Phillips?

Latrice Phillips is 51 years old. She faces murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a 33-year-old man on Saturday night at a motel in Oakbrook Terrace.

Police said that Truitt and Phillips were friends who had gotten into a heated argument by the hotel pool. After the argument, Truitt and some others left the pool area; Phillips apparently went with them and entered the elevator.

After arriving at the seventh floor, there was a physical fight in which Phillips is said to have pulled out a revolver and shot Truitt three times. Phillips then ran back to her hotel room.

She was taken into custody without incident by law authorities, and it was alleged that during the arrest, a 9mm handgun in a holster was discovered on her person.

Before her trial, Phillips was ordered to be detained when she appeared in court on Monday afternoon. On January 4, she is expected to appear in court for her arraignment.

The incident that occurred at the Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Suites on Saturday night was handled with great sadness by Hilton, according to a statement they provided. Condemning the solitary shooting, the statement said that it was regretted by the victims.
