A San Antonio man named Pete Robles was arrested on Tuesday after a teacher at a San Antonio pre-K center discovered a gun in the backpack of the man’s 3-year-old child, according to the police.

As reported by CNN, an off-duty parks police officer who was tasked with providing security at the pre-K center learned about the incident on Tuesday morning. The parks police officer immediately phoned nearby municipal police officers for aid after finding the weapon in the bag of the 3-year-old youngster.

Who is Pete Robles?

Pete Robles is 35 years old. He is a resident of San Antonio, Texas. He was the father of 3-year-old. Robles was subsequently detained and is now being accused of endangering children. According to the police statement, after the arrest, Child Protective Services took custody of the child to guarantee their safety.

Initially after the incident, the school temporarily suspended the use of backpacks on school premises.

At the moment, Robles is being detained in the Bexar County jail. There was no attorney named for him as of Wednesday afternoon. According to court records, his pre-trial hearing is planned for September 12th.

As reported by CNN, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus in a press conference after the incident said, “This incident underscores the important collaboration between the school faculty and law enforcement personnel. Swift action was taken to address the situation and make an arrest. There are no current threats to the safety of the school or its students. To provide further assurance, (police) will maintain an increased uniformed presence at the school for the foreseeable future.”

The investigation into the case is still on and the officials are looking for all the possible angles in the case. Police authorities also stated that more arrests and charges are possible.
