Who is Roger Stone?

Roger Jason Stone, born on August 27, 1952, is an American figure renowned for his roles as a conservative political consultant and lobbyist. Stone has actively supported numerous Republican candidates’ campaigns throughout the 1970s, including well-known figures like Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Jack Kemp, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump. He has frequently advised campaigns throughout his career in addition to engaging in political lobbying activities.

Stone co-founded a Washington, D.C.-based lobbying firm with Charles R. Black Jr. and Paul Manafort in 1980. When Peter G. Kelly was hired in 1984, the company changed and eventually adopted the name Black, Manafort, Stone and Kelly (BMSK).

He first suggested that Donald Trump run for president in 1998, while he was working as a lobbyist in Washington for Trump’s casino company.

Stone’s engagement in the Trump campaign officially ended on August 8, 2015, but it became contentious throughout the 2016 election. The founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, and Stone allegedly worked together to undermine Hillary Clinton, according to allegations made by two anonymous associates. These claims were categorically refuted by Stone and Assange. The discovery of around thirty search warrants in April 2020 as a result of subsequent developments revealed communications between Stone and Assange in 2017.
