Timothy Simpkins was charged with attempted capital murder on Thursday as a result of his participation in the Timberview High School massacre in 2021. 

According to Fox 4, the jury in Timothy Simpkins’ trial for the shooting that took place at Timberview High School in Arlington, in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, on October 6, 2021, deliberated for the majority of the day on Thursday.

Who is Timothy Simpkins?

Timothy Simpkins is 19 years old. He has been charged with attempted capital murder for his involvement in the high school shooting. 

Following a physical dispute between Timothy Simpkins and another student, the shooting at Timberview High School happened inside a classroom. Simpkins, who was 18 at the time, pulled a gun during the confrontation and started shooting. His actions resulted in the shooting of a 15-year-old student, a 25-year-old teacher, and the grazing of a female student. A pregnant woman who was there when it happened also was hurt when she fell in the commotion that followed.

Timothy Simpkins escaped the site of the shooting at Timberview High School but turned himself in to police later that day. In relation to the incident, he was subsequently charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Simpkins was able to pay a $75,000 bond in order to get out of the Tarrant County Jail. This made it possible for him to be briefly let go from custody as he awaited his trial and other legal proceedings. He was convicted guilty of attempted capital murder for his acts during the shooting incident in the trial’s final judgment, nevertheless.

On Friday morning, the punishment part of the trial is scheduled to start, during which the court will decide on Timothy Simpkins’ sentence. Simpkins could receive a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in jail for his role in the shooting at Timberview High School, depending on how the punishment phase turns out.
