According to Albuquerque police, Colin Hunter, an established former lawyer, was shot to death on Monday at a residence in the North Valley.

Who was Colin Hunter?

Born in 1983, Colin Hunter was a lawyer in Albuquerque.

Hunter represented Cowboys for Trump, filed civil rights litigation, and sued the City of Albuquerque over a contentious DWI vehicle seizure program.

Couy Griffin, a co-founder of Cowboys for Trump, organized a group of rodeo friends to form the advocacy organization known as Cowboys for Trump. This group organized horse-drawn parades to promote President Donald Trump’s conservative views on abortion, gun rights, and immigration restrictions.

Over ten years ago, Hunter also held the position of vice chairman for the Bernalillo County GOP.

The center county of the Albuquerque, New Mexico Metropolitan Statistical Area is Bernalillo County.

After being caught by police driving while intoxicated in a vehicle covered in empty Tecate beer cans, Hunter entered a guilty plea to DWI in 2016. Up until 2021, Hunter continued to represent clients in a range of legal proceedings and civil issues.

His law license was suspended in 2022 as a result of his failure to renew it, according to court documents.

Hunter was fatally shot in the 4600 block of Fifth NW, near Griegos by an unknown offender. The police arrived at 5 a.m. at the crime scene.

The case is still being investigated. Hunter case has also put the February 8, 2023 death of David Ramirez and Patrick Gallegos as justified murders.

Responding to allegations of a body outside the Cinnamon Tree apartment building on Central, police discovered Ramirez dead.

Then, hours later, officers responded to allegations of a body inside a house near Second and Menaul and discovered Gallegos dead inside.

The police spokesman, Gilbert Gallegos, did not go into detail about why officers feel the two men’s murders were justified homicides.
