Kerisha Johnson, a pregnant Louisiana woman, was killed along with her unborn child after three teens started firing on her automobile in an alleged instance of mistaken identity. The teenagers are currently accused of first-degree feticide and second-degree murder.
Who was Kerisha Johnson?
Kerisha Johnson was a 36-year-old woman from Louisiana who was nine months pregnant. She was due to give birth within several days.
When Johnson’s car approached a house in Baton Rouge to pick up someone from a party, three teens opened fire on her. Police claimed they mistakenly believed her car to be another one.
Three 19-year-olds were detained by the police in connection with the shooting: Derrick Curry, Marques Porch, and Gregory Parker. Police discovered throughout their inquiries that the gathering, which was primarily attended by teenagers, was advertised as an Easter celebration.

These three people were photographed “raising firearms, pointing them at the victim’s vehicle and then firing” before leaving the area, the warrant claims. They admitted to authorities that they had been carrying a weapon when the shooting occurred.
According to police, “several individuals” opened fire on Johnson’s white sedan as she was going to the party. It appears that the shooters thought the car belonged to someone else.
The warrant stated that earlier in the evening, a similar automobile had fired rounds into the air as it passed the party.
Johnson made an attempt to escape but suffered fatal injuries from the onslaught. According to the warrant, Porch allegedly admitted to giving the other two teenagers the guns before the shooting. Despite being shot, he fled the scene with only minor injuries, according to authorities.
“It was just senseless,” Deanna Williams, a childhood friend of Johnson, told Baton Rouge ABC affiliate WBRZ. “She was an innocent person.”
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the gunmen were each charged with first-degree feticide and second-degree murder. In a court appearance on Monday, the three accused were ordered to be sentenced without bond.
