YouTube star James Charles on Thursday posted a video on YouTube in which he admitted to sending sexually explicit messages to two 16-year-old boys. In the video, titled ‘holding myself accountable’, the beauty influencer said he fully understood his actions and how they were wrong.
Earlier this year, the 21-year-old YouTuber was accused of grooming by a teenager. At that time, Charles had denied the allegations and said he flirted with the person believing he was an adult.

However, in the recent video, he has accepted the two incidents. He, however, said he didn’t know they were minors.
“These conversations should have never happened,” Charles said in the video, adding that he should have checked other social media platforms for their real ages.
Charles also spoke about his past relationships and why he was “reckless”. “I’m desperate,” he says.
The YouTuber, who has 25.7 million subscribers, ended the video vowing that he would be more cautious in the future.
This isn’t the first time that the beauty influencer has faced such allegations. In 2019, he was accused of using his fame and money to exploit someone’s sexuality. He had denied the allegation.
Meanwhile, among the more than 50,000 comments the video has garnered, were those calling him out for admitting to the allegation not “because he was wrong, but because he was caught”.
“He really said “To the victims I’m so so sorry” after gaslighting them during the whole video,” a user commented.

“I find it hard to believe he didn’t look at their public profiles prior to snap chatting them,” wrote another.
“You’re only sorry you got caught, these conversations keep happening James. At this point you should know what you’re doing,” commented another user.
