The 18th season of American Idol marred by the COVID-19 was a virtual affair. Just like the premier of most movies, TV shows, award functions and reality TV shows, American Idol also ran its 2020 course online.

Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were judges. Ryan Seacrest, host of the 18th season had announced 20-year-old Just Sam, from Harlem as the winner of American Idol 2020. As per reports, the results were so shocking for Sam, that she almost dropped the tablet she was using to attend the virtual finale.
