Rilee Rossouw

Aiden Markram

Rassie van der Dussen

Quinton de Kock

Answer: Rilee Rossouw

Who is Rilee Rossouw?

Rilee Rossouw, a stylish top-order batsman with an elegant and authoritative drive, established himself as a high-impact batsman for South Africa in limited-overs formats before signing a Kolpak contract with Hampshire in English county cricket.

He first gained attention in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup before returning to play for the Eagles (later renamed Knights), where he was their leading scorer in the 2008-09 season. In 2009-10, he went one better, becoming the leading first-class run-scorer with 1189 runs at an average of 66.05. The following season, he was the one-day cup’s second-highest run-getter.

He was named to South Africa’s A squad, which toured Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in 2010. Rossouw averaged over 40 in first-class cricket in three of the four seasons that followed – 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2013-14 – but was unable to break into the Test team despite regular appearances in A sides.

In 2009, the young Turk made a big impression in the Champions League T20, smashing a 19-ball 44 against T&T. As a result, he was signed by the Bangalore franchise for the IPL in 2012. Though Rossouw did not play, being in the same dressing room as Ray Jennings, AB de Villiers, and Virat Kohli would have sharpened his tactical acumen.

Bangalore re-enlisted Rossouw’s services in 2014 after Nic Maddinson suffered a finger injury. Rossouw also demonstrated his international worth just before the 2015 World Cup with a century against the West Indies in the fifth ODI in Centurion.
