The flight operated by Malaysia Airlines disappeared on March 8, 2014, while it was going from Kuala Lumpur airport to Beijing. There were 239 people on board, all of whom went missing, and haven’t been found yet. The mystery of the disappearing airline remains unsolved as well.
British retiree Richard Godfrey, a member of a group of independent researchers and scientists examining the circumstances of the disappeared aircraft, claimed that it had crashed in the Indian Ocean, some 2000 kilometres west of Perth, Australia.
As per Godfrey, the flight tripped off a series of radio signals before disappearing.
“We’ve searched that area before… it’s very difficult terrain, very rugged. There are canyons and volcanoes, the ridges and cliffs. So it may have been missed”, he said, as reported by The Straits Times.
Malaysia’s Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong, said in a pre-recorded video message, remembering the event “Please let me reiterate the government of Malaysia’s aspiration to locate MH370 has not been abandoned. We just need credible and actionable evidence to act on before we can mount an expedition which we are certain could yield results.”
The last words by the airline, when it made contact with air traffic control over the South China Sea, were “Good Night, Malaysian Three Seven Zero”.
The plane was seen on military radar at 2.22 AM. No distress calls came from the cockpit or mobiles of anyone on board.
