Georges Remi was born in a lower-middle-class family in Etterbreek, Brussels. His cartooning career began with contributions to Scouting magazines. It was there that he created The Adventures of Totor which were published in 1926.
The Adventures of Tintin was published in 1929. It follows the story of Tintin, a reporter and adventurer, and his dog Snowy. Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, Tintin in the Congo and Tintin in America were designed to promote conservative values among children.
