An alligator chased and attacked a swimmer in Brazil, as seen in a terrifying video. The event occurred on Saturday in a forested area with one of the most popular lakes. Because the Lago do Amor lake in Campo Grande is off-limits to swimmers due to the presence of alligators, Willyan Caetano began shooting the moment he spotted a man approaching the forbidden waters.

“A man entered the water around 4:40 pm and started swimming in the place, where entry is prohibited,” he told NDTV.

His video captures the moment a lake alligator began hunting the poor swimmer. Caetano said that the man attempted to swim faster in order to avoid the approaching reptile. The gator makes a beeline for the swimmer and attacks him, according to the footage. It got a hold of the swimmer’s arm and managed to take a bit out of it.

“Suddenly, to my surprise, an alligator starts chasing him. He tried to swim fast to get away, but the alligator managed to reach him and land a violent bite on the man’s arm, who came out of the water with his arm all bloody and very scared, saying he didn’t know there was an alligator,” said Caetano.

People phoned Mobile Emergency Care Service after the attack, according to local media. Except for minor injuries to one of his limbs, the swimmer remained unharmed.

This is the first time someone has entered the water to swim, according to Garapeira Marinalva da Silva, who has been maintaining a sugarcane juice kiosk at Lago do Amor for the past five years. The existence of alligators is well-known in this location. “Sometimes, children go there, but we tell them there’s an alligator and it’s dirty, so they come back,” she told Campo Grande News, a local news website.
