Australian
fans seem don’t want to see Rafael Nadal missing the chance to win the Australian
Open
men’s singles title and become the male player with most Grand Slam
titles. Nadal has 20 Grand Slam titles, and he is tied with Roger Federer and
Novak Djokovic at 20 majors.

Daniil
Medvedev
, Nadal’s opponent in the final, is looking to win his maiden
Australian Open title at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday. But the moment he entered the Rod Laver Arena, fans
started booing him. The entire 14,000 capacity crowd disapproved Medvedev’s
presence as he bids to spoil Nadal’s chances of creating history.

World
No.2 Medvedev has already been labelled the ‘villain’ of the Australian Open
after his fiery outburst at chair umpire Jaume Campistol during his semi-final
match against the also popular Stefanos Tsitsipas, as well as his disagreements
with the crowd while playing local favourite Nick Kyrgios.

Medvedev
was fined over $AU17,000 for his angry tirade at Campistol. Commentator Leyton
Hewitt echoed those sentiments saying “He is the villain out here. He’s trying
to spoil the party”.

On
Sunday, during the final, as Medvedev took a two-set lead, he was continued to
be booed by the fans and he got ratty with the ball kids quite often. An irked
Russian wanted them to stand in a particular place, but the aspiring players
did not relent. As he lost his patience, it hampered his game. He eventually messed up his game, spoiling a couple of easy backhand returns.

Every
time Nadal earned a point and Medvedev’s nerves broke down, the crowd cheered on.
Of course, it made the second seed annoyed.

As
there was very little cheer for him, Medvedev, sometimes, was seen cheering for
himself. But to match thousands of fans needs the mind of steel, so Medvedev has had to give up during a tense match in which Nadal was not his only opponent fans also doubled up to rattle him.

Medvedev
was seen waiting for the noise to subside. Gradually in a marathon match, his
legs just are not the same as they were at the start of the match.  At one point, he had to call his physio to rub down his legs.
