The state-owned China Airlines has been directed to pay a fine of $35, 850 by the Civil Aeronautics Administration after failing to follow COVID-19 prevention measures set by the government. Health Minister Chen Shih-chung on Friday, in a press conference, said that the carrier was found to have put some of its members of the crew in a non-quarantine hotel after they arrived in Taiwan, according to a report by Taiwan News.

While only one of the two Novotel Taipei Taoyuan International Airport Hotels was designated as a quarantine facility, the other accepted the crew members of China Airlines as well, added Chen. The airline received a penalty of NT$ 1 million for not abiding by the Civil Aviation Act, he added while citing Article 2 of the act. He explained that the hotel was also fined NT$ 150,000 ($5,378) by the Tourism Bureau and NT$ 15,000 ($537) by the Taoyuan City Government for mixing guests with the ones undergoing quarantine, reported Taiwan News.
China Airlines, have been at the receiving end of the coronavirus outbreak, as they have already had 11 pilots, one flight attendant, five employees and one contractor, along with 11 family members who have been infected by the virus.
