Chinchou is a tiny Pokémon with a spherical, blue body
that resembles a fish. It features a pair of semi-transparent, light blue
pectoral fins and stubby feet, as well as big yellow eyes with plus sign-shaped
pupils. A pair of antennas that curl up and over Chinchou’s head are located on
its back, where its tail would be. The yellow, teardrop-shaped orbs at the ends
of the antennae evolved from fins.

Chinchou’s orbs on its antennae provide a gentle glow
that attracts prey. It also flashes its light to communicate with other members
of its species and to assert its territory. Inside the antennas are
energy-generating cells that generate enough electricity to tickle Chinchou
mildly. It can protect itself as well as shock its target by releasing positive
and negative charges.

Chinchou is a creature that dwells on the dark ocean
floor, rarely emerging to the surface. In the anime, though, it has proven the
capacity to walk on land.
