Hyderabad have had a poor start to their IPL 2022, losing two consecutive
matches. They are now standing at the rock bottom of the points ladder. In
their last game on Monday, they suffered a 12-run defeat against Lucknow Super
Giants. Last season, the franchise had a forgetful campaign.

In
their opening match, SRH lost to Rajasthan Royals by 61 runs. After Monday’s
narrow defeat against LSG, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt said there is
“something wrong” with the franchise.
“SRH’s
time is not changing. Their fate is also not changing whether it’s a good pitch
or bad pitch. So, there is something wrong with this team,” Butt stated on
his YouTube channel.
Butt
is not satisfied with South African batter Aiden Markram’s role in the team,
saying that the player should bat higher up the order.
“Markram
is a top-order batter. He is an impact player but you are playing him at no. 4
and 5. He is an imposing figure at the top of the order. So, with the batting
slot which has been currently assigned, he won’t score in many games,” he
added.
In
the last game, SRH bowlers have put up a good show. They first reduced LSG to
27 for three at one stage. KL Rahul (68) and Deepak Hooda (51) powered LSG to a
total of 169 for seven.

In
reply, SRH were restricted to 157 for nine after the top order failed to
provide a solid start. Rahul Tripathi top-scored with a fine 44 while Nicholas
Pooran also played a handy cameo of 34.
The
match was also riddled with controversy when captain Kane Williamson was dismissed
off Avesh Khan’s bowling in the fourth over. In the powerplay, three LSG
players were outside the circle. SRH have lodged a complaint with BCCI.
