Niall Horan, an Irish singer and songwriter, became popular as a member of the biggest British boy band, One Direction. During a recent episode of People, Just People hosted by Dermot O’Leary, the singer revealed a few instances where he felt ‘like a prisoner’ due to the persistence of his fans to be with him.

The singer explaining the situation, recalled particular incidents when fans would literally follow every move of him, whether he was going to hotel or enjoying his time in personal space.

Niall talked about how a few fans would bang on his car window and would make it difficult for him to come out of his vehicle. “I struggled with the idea of, why won’t you just let us out? We just want to go for a walk, you know?”

Initially, when he started as a singer, he went back to those memories and recalled that he couldn’t understand the behaviour of the fans, saying, “But, you can’t get inside the brain of a fan, and now I completely get it, but at the time, you’re like, you’re our age! Just let us out! We just want to walk down the street. You must understand!”

He said that the band couldn’t even “see…all these amazing cities” that they toured solely because of fans who wouldn’t stop following. The singer recalled an instance from Lima, Peru, where the band boys wanted to go to a nearby shopping centre but when they were heading, around 10,000 people were standing on the street outside the hotel.
