Nostradamus, a French prophet and astrologer, is revered by many for his prophecies that have translated into real-life events, like the rise of Hitler and the assassination of former US President John F Kennedy.

In his 1555 book ‘Les Prophéties’, Nostradamus, also referred to as the Prophet of Doom by his contemporaries, made thousands of predictions. As 2021 comes to a close, let’s take a look at what the French mystic forecasted for 2022 –

Inflation and starvation

Nostradamus predicted that 2022 may experience inflation and bring down the value of the US dollar.

“No abbots, monks, no novices to learn;

Honey shall cost far more than candle-wax

So high the price of wheat,

That man is stirred

His fellow man to eat in his despair”

Crisis in France

A great storm may cause a crisis in France.

“Blue-head shall white-head

 harm in such degree

As France’s good to both shall e’er amount.”

Global warming

Temperatures may reach a breaking point in 2022, resulting in the death of coral reefs and the decimation of natural habitats.

“Like the sun the head shall sear the shining sea

The Black Sea’s living fish shall all but boil.

When Rhodes and Genoa

Half-starved shall be

The local folk to cut them up shall toil.”

Asteroid strike

Nostradamus has suggested an asteroid strike. However, it isn’t clear whether it is going to be a small meteor shower or a catastrophic extinction-level event.

“Fire do I see that from the sky shall fall”

Rise of Artificial Intelligence

The French prophet predicted that artificial intelligence may rule the computer with a human interface.

“The Moon in the full of night over the high mountain,

The new sage with a lone brain sees it:

By his disciples invited to be immortal,

Eyes to the south. Hands in bosoms, bodies in the fire.”
