On Wednesday
morning, Malala Yousafzai shared pictures of her wedding on social media,

We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.”

in a black suit.

Malala Yousafzai
gained global attention at the age of 15 when she was shot in the head by the
Taliban while campaigning for the rights of girls to pursue education in
Pakistan in 2012. Two years later, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize as
recognition of her efforts to promote education for children. She shared the
prize with Indian child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi.

Malala’s decision to
marry came as a surprise for many as in the July 2021 issue of British Vogue,
the activist had said, “I still don’t understand why people get married. If you
want to have a person in your life, why do you have to sign marriage papers,
why can’t it just be a partnership?” In the same interview, she said, “My mum
is like, ‘Don’t you dare say anything like that! You have to get married;
marriage is beautiful.”
