Ons Jabeur became the first ever Tunisian player to ever reach the US Open finals. She would be facing current world no-1 in Iga Swiatek at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 10.
Earlier this year, Jabeur also reached the Wimbledon finals where she was defeated by the Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan in three sets, where the score read, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The current world no-5, Jabeur would look to become the first ever Tunisian player to win a grandslam. She reached her second consecutive grandslam final of the year, a record for her.
With a win against Swiatek, she would become the first woman to beat her in the grandslam finals. Swiatek is currently 2-0 in grandslam finals. Jabeur will also look to become the first women’s tennis player from North Africa and Arab to claim a grandslam victory.

In the US Open this year, she defeated American Madison Brengle in the first round in straight sets 7-5, 6-2. In the next round, she won the match against Elizabeth Mandik with the exact same scoreline.
Jabeur lost her first set of the tournament in the third round when she lost the first set by 6-4. However, she came back to defeat her opponent by winning the next two sets, 6-4 and 6-3.

Her round of 16 match was against world number, 18, Veronika Kudermetova, whom she defeated in straight sets, 7-6 (7-1), 6-4. Jabeur’s quarterfinal match was against Ajla Tomljanovic, where the second set went to a tie-break. The final score read, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
She played her semi-final match against the 17th ranked player in the world Caroline Garcia of France and also defeated her in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
The player would be looking to reach the top of the women’s rankings if she wins in the finals.
