Barbara Bush is an American activist and the daughter of former United States President George W Bush. She and husband Craig Coyne welcomed their first child, daughter Cora Georgia Coyne, on September 27. Barbara was born on November 25, 1981, alongside twin sister Jenna Bush Hager, who is an author and journalist.  “With full hearts, Laura and I are delighted to announce the birth of our new granddaughter,” George W Bush said in a statement. “Cora is healthy and adorable, and we are proud and grateful.”

After graduating from Yale University with a degree in Humanities in 2004, Barbara co-founded the Global Health Corps in 2009. The organization “mobilises young leaders to solve the world’s most pressing health issues,” according to their website. Barbara has worked with Smithsonian Institution’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, Red Cross Children’s Hospital in South Africa and UNICEF in Botswana.

She is also on the board of directors for Partners in Health and has received numerous awards such as Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation Social Entrepreneur. She was featured in Glamour’s Women of the Year 2011. She featured in Newsweek’s Women of Impact in 2013, and was named to Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business list in 2015.

Barbara and Jenna have co-authored a memoir ‘Sisters First’, which they followed with a children’s book version, also a number one NYTimes best seller.

Barbara has been known to support the Democrat Party. She married Craig Coyne at the Bush family’s summer retreat Walker’s Point Estate, with only 20 family members in attendance.

Coyne, an actor and screenwriter, has starred in movies such as Jarhead and Ask Play.

Coyne earlier worked for the House of Representatives after attending Vanderbilt University. Barbara is currently pursuing her Masters degree at Harvard University and is a fellow with Harvard’s Center for Public Leadership.
