Nizakat Khan is going to lead Hong Kong in the 2022 Asia Cup, UAE. Hong Kong is in Group A along with India and Pakistan. They play India on August 31 and Pakistan on September 2.

Who is Nizakat Khan?

Nizakat Khan is a professional cricketer who represents Hong Kong in international cricket. He was born on July 8, 1992 in Attock, Punjab, Pakistan. Khan is a leg-break bowler and a right-handed batter. He was named the captain of the Hong Kong cricket team in August 2021.

He began by making his World Cricket League debut for Hong Kong in the 2011 World Cricket League Division Three, where he helped Hong Kong earn promotion to the 2011 World Cricket League Division Two. The all-rounder has played age group cricket for the Hong Kong Under-19s in the 2010 Under-19 World Cup. He played Uganda in his List A debut during this competition.

Khan scored 182 runs at a batting average of 30.33 in his six games during the campaign, with two half centuries and a best score of 95. His best performance was against Namibia. He had a 10-wicket total with an 18.80 bowling average and a high of 4/14.

On May 1, 2014, he played his first One Day International against Afghanistan in the ACC Premier League. Due to an illegal action at the 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in July, he was banned from bowling. On September 2, 2016, in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Ireland, he scored his first-ever first-class century.

The Pakistan-born cricketer was included in Hong Kong’s roster for the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier competition in August 2018. He was added to the Hong Kong squad for the 2018 Asia Cup after Hong Kong won the qualifying round.

He was again included in Hong Kong’s roster for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier match in the United Arab Emirates in September 2019. He was selected for the Hong Kong team lin November to compete in the Cricket World Cup Challenge League B competition in Oman. The 30-year-old was chosen to lead Hong Kong in the 2022 Uganda Cricket World Cup Challenge League B competition in May 2022.
