Timothy Schofield, brother of TV presenter Phillip Schofield, has been jailed for 12 years for child abuse. He was found guilty of 11 sexual offences including child in April.

Who is Tim Schofield?

Tim Schofield is a 54-year-old, civilian police worker from Bath, Somerset. He used to work for Avon and Somerset Police. Tim was found guilty of 11 sexual offences including child from 2016 to 2019.

After he was found guilty, Tim was ousted from his job. He was sentenced to 12 years in jail on Friday at Bristol Crown Court on Friday. Reacting after the verdict, Phillip Schofield, brother of Tim said, “As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.”

Tim has been convicted of three counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and three counts of making the child watch the act. He is also convicted of a sexual act with a child and three counts of making a child engage in the act.

Justice Cutts, while sentencing him expressed, Schofield has exploited the innocence of the victim for his own sexual urges, and said, “It was wrong on every level for you to behave as you did. He felt forced to do what you wanted, trapped and unable to escape. He felt he couldn’t tell anyone and did not do so for many years. You took away his ability to be the teenager he should have been – carefree, relaxed, happy. It is clear to me that you became utterly obsessed with him. I have not heard a single word of remorse from you, only self-pity.”

After Tim was jailed, the victim made a statement saying, “Before Tim was arrested, I felt I had no freedom. I often felt panic, stress and fear. I felt like I was trapped in a loop of fear and anxiety of the abuse happening again. It was only after Tim was arrested that I felt safe. It was only after Tim was arrested that I felt free – free to be me, free to be happy, free to be relaxed.”
