Google
India on Tuesday launched a new feature called ‘People Cards’, a virtual
visiting card that lets people to be found easily via the search engine.

The feature
allows individuals to build an online presence and discover others. Users can also
add professional and personal information, location details along with existing
websites or social media profiles to create a personalised virtual card.

“Introducing
the people card on Google Search. Showcase your business, passion or portfolio
when people search for you on Google,” Google India tweeted, along with a link
to help create a People Card.

The feature
aims to make it easier for millions of aspiring influencers, entrepreneurs,
freelancers, self-employed individuals to be discovered online.

Google has placed
multiple security and protection protocols to ensure information provided by
individuals is reliable and accurate.

Each user can create only one People Card, which will be authenticated by the user’s Google
account and mobile number. Users will be given complete authority over the
information they share. They can also choose to opt out of the service.
