A teaser for the film Gandhi Talks starring Vijay Sethupathi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Arvind Swami, and Siddharth Jadhav was released on October 2, 2022, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The movie is promoted as a dark comedy, but narrative specifics are still under wraps. The film will be a silent one – meaning, the only audible language in the movie will be the music, which was composed by Indian musician A.R. Rahman, an Oscar, BAFTA, and Grammy winner. Kishore P. Belekar will be in charge of directing the project.

The short video features the four main characters in stories that explore the function of our Indian currency notes. For instance, we witness Vijay’s character play a drumming monkey toy with cash, and the toy is stored next to three wise monkey dolls, a representation of the way of life Gandhi was known to live and advocate.

There is a potent social commentary in store for us, as indicated by frames spotlighting the image of Mahatma Gandhi that appears on banknotes and the remixed instrumental version of Raghupati Raghav being played in the background.
“Silent film is not a gimmick. It is a form of storytelling. Conveying emotions by switching off the device of dialogue is not only scary but also interesting and challenging,” Belekar said.
Gandhi Talks is co-produced by Kyoorious Digital, Movie Mill Entertainment, and produced by Zee Studios.

“The story is unique, relatable, and incredibly funny and entertaining. It feels great to back a silent film in collaboration with A.R. Rahman, Vijay Sethupathi and Arvind Swami. This venture makes it very compelling for us,” Shariq Patel, the chief business officer of Zee Studios said.
