LeGarrette Blount, former NFL running back, was involved in a fight after a youth football game on Saturday. TMZ posted a video of the incident, adding that police are investigating. 

Blount was coaching an U-12 team – GCYFC Gators against the Chandler Elite Bears. The fight broke during the postgame handshake. 

Several videos of the incident have been posted on social media. The coach can be seen trying to confront someone on the other sideline as parents argued. Blount then took off and started throwing punches at a man. He was pulled away. 

Police told TMZ that they were called to the scene shortly after 7 PM. The fight had concluded by then. No injuries are reported.

Police say they are investigating the incident and have described Blount as ‘an involved party’, TMZ reported.

Who is LeGarrette Blount?

Born on December 5, 1986 in Madison, Florida, LeGarrette Montez Blount is a former football running back turned coach. He played in nine NFL seasons for several teams: Tennessee Titans (2010), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2010–2012), New England Patriots (2013), Pittsburgh Steelers (2014), New England Patriots (2014–2016), Philadelphia Eagles (2017) and Detroit Lions (2018).

Blount was born to Gary and Barbara Blount. He has two siblings. The 35-year-old attended Taylor County High School in Perry. He played football and participated in track and field. 

He played college football for East Mississippi Community College for two seasons in 2006 and 07, later transferring to the Oregon Ducks football team.

He was left undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft, but was signed by Tennessee Titans. He was involved in an incident with team-mate Erick Bakhtiari in his rookie season, throwing a punch at the player.

Blount made the Titans’ 53-man roster after surviving the final roster cut. On September 5, 2010, the team released Blount.

Blount was traded to the New England Patriots on April 27, 2013. On December 29, he led the Patriots to a playoff bye with a career-high 189 yards on 24 carries, scoring two touchdowns, and returning two kickoffs for 145 yards with a long of 83 yards against the Buffalo Bills in their second divisional matchup. Blount set a franchise record with 334 all-purpose yards. His performance earned him the title of NFL Ground Player of the Week. Blount finished the season with 772 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, a career-high.

After a year’s stinct with the Steelers, he signed another two-year deal with the Patriots, becoming a three-time Super Bowl winner with the team (2014, 2017, 2018).

Blount signed a one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Detroit Lions on March 16, 2018, which included a $1 million signing bonus and $2.5 million in incentives. Blount finished the 2018 season with 418 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Blount has announced that he will retire from football on December 5, 2020.
