LeGarrette Blount, a former running back for the Detroit Lions, got into a brawl during a minor football game in Gilbert, Arizona. On Twitter, TMZ posted a video of the event along with the announcement that police are looking into it.

Against the Chandler Elite Bears, Blount was the head coach of the GCYFC Gators U-12 squad. During the handshake after the game, a fight broke out. The ex-player was noticeably agitated in line over what someone had said to him.

Social media videos of the incident show the young coach approaching the opposing coaches in an effort to address a player on the other sideline.

Wife and children

Blount is not married but has a girlfriend, Merissa McCullugh. The pair have two children together.

Career stats

Blount spent nine seasons as a player in the National Football League (NFL). After transferring from East Mississippi Community College, he played football for Oregon. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent after being passed over in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Blount enjoyed his greatest success when playing for the New England Patriots for four seasons in a row, winning two Super Bowl championships and leading the league in rushing touchdowns in 2016.

Blount was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles squad that won Super Bowl LII after winning Super Bowls XLIX and LI for New England, making him one of just six players to have successive Super Bowl triumphs for separate teams. He is tied for sixth place in NFL history with 11 playoff rushing touchdowns.

College

Blount ran for more than 1,000 yards in each of his two seasons at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Mississippi, with 367 carries for 2,292 yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.

He topped the state of Mississippi in rushing yards with 1,106 as early as October 2006; one of his career highlights was a 273-yard performance with three touchdowns in a victory over Northeast Mississippi Community College during his freshman year. The Clarion-Ledger ranked Blount as the top junior college talent, and he was named a Junior College All-American.

Blount rose to the top of the junior college prospects list at the end of his second year. According to the Rivals.com Junior College Top 100, he was ranked as the top junior college running back in the country and as the No. 12 overall prospect.

Numerous high-major institutions, notably Florida State and West Virginia, actively recruited Blount. In December 2007, he made a commitment to Oregon. Reuben Droughns, a former Oregon and NFL running back, was compared by Oregon coaches to Blount.

At Oregon, Blount and Jeremiah Johnson, a senior, shared the running back position going into Blount’s junior year. The chatty Johnson gave Blount advice during his rookie Pac-10 season while the two running backs shared a home.

It was Blount’s first season sharing playing time with another running back, and he had mixed feelings about it. Both running backs performed admirably in a victory over the Oregon State Beavers in the Civil War at the end of the season.

The two backs each produced about 100 yards and three touchdowns in a 63-14 victory against the Washington State Cougars early in the game. Blount would, however, have underwhelming outings in games against USC and Cal. Blount carried for 1,002 yards and 17 touchdowns overall, breaking the school record for a single season.

Blount and Johnson, who led the club with 1,201 yards, became just the second pair in team history to surpass 1,000 running yards in the same season.

He had numerous disagreements with experienced head coach Mike Bellotti throughout the season, which led to a first-quarter suspension for “not obeying team rules” in a November loss to the California Golden Bears.

He skipped a few sessions once the season was over. On February 10, Bellotti placed him on an indefinite suspension for “failure to fulfill team obligations.”

Blount handled the punishment reasonably well, increasing his participation in both academic and athletic endeavours. In March, newly appointed head coach Chip Kelly reinstated him. He participated in some, but not all, of the off-season voluntary activities, but his teammates in the football programme commended him for having a better attitude.

He was in greater physical shape than in 2008 when he arrived at training camp. He was slightly overweight at 243 pounds (110 kg), but he was working to lose weight in order to reach his goal of 2,000 yards every season. Blount was added to the Doak Walker and Walter Camp Award watchlists for the 2009 campaign.
