Suryakumar Yadav registered a 23-ball fifty, as India defeated Zimbabwe by 71 runs in the T20 World Cup 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This was the fourth fastest fifty in a T20 World Cup by an Indian batter.

In his innings, Yadav lit up the Melbourne Cricket Ground with six boundaries and four maximums. The swashbuckling cricketer smashed Zimbabwe’s bowlers all over the stadium, rendering them helpless.

1. Yuvraj Singh: 12 balls (vs England in Durban, 2007)

Yuvraj Singh owns the record for the T20 World Cup’s fastest half-century. In a thrilling victory for India over England at the 2007 World Cup in Durban, he struck 50 off 12 balls. It was in this game that Singh blasted six consecutive sixes in one over against Stuart Broad. He hit three boundaries and seven maximum en route his 14-ball 58.

2. KL Rahul: 18 balls (vs Scotland in Dubai, 2021)

KL Rahul scored the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in T20 internationals in 2021 against Scotland in the 2021 T20 WC. Rahul scored 50 runs (six fours and three maximums) from 18 balls to help India beat Scotland, while needing 85 runs to win. His powerful hitting enabled India to win the match in seven overs.

3. Yuvraj Singh: 20 balls (vs Australia in Durban, 2007)

Singh scored 70 off 30 balls against Australia during the 2007 T20 World Cup, making him the third-fastest Indian batsman to reach a half-ton. In his innings, he hit five sixes and five fours, assisting India in winning the game. Because of how well he batted against a top-notch Australian bowling attack, the southpaw was also named player of the game.

4. Suryakumar Yadav: 23 balls (vs Zimbabwe in Melbourne, 2022)

Yadav hit Zimbabwe pace attack all over the ground in the death overs, hitting 57 runs in the final six overs. He hit six boundaries and four maximums en route his half-century. He also reached the milestone of scoring 1000 T20I runs in a single calendar year in the same match, becoming the second Indian to do so.
