Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese footballer, will be joining the Saudi Arabian football club Al- Nassr FC after the termination of his contract with Manchester United. A deal for two-and-a-half-year worth 200 million euros per season has been agreed upon, reports say.

The team swap occurred before the Portugal captain’s FIFA World Cup 2022 Round of 16 fixture against Switzerland is scheduled for Wednesday at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, reported Spanish outlet Marca.
The contract with Manchester United contract got terminated after Ronaldo’s controversial interview with British talk-show host Piers Morgan. The footballer said in the interview that he felt betrayed by the Premier League club. Ronaldo also condemned Erik ten Hag saying that he has no respect for the Manchester United manager.

He was earlier suspended by Ten Hag after refusing to come in as a substitute player during a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
The 37-year-old rejoined Manchester United in August 2021 during the summer transfer window. He spent 12 years at Real Madrid and Juventus. He quit Manchester after his first shift in 2009.

On returning, he concluded the season with 24 goals in all matches, including 18 being in the Premier League, making him the third-highest goalscorer in the league after Golden Boot winners Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min.
Ronaldo was also listed in the Premier League Team of the year, and also received the club’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award. Despite his good performances, United finished in the sixth position, failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

After Erik-ten-Hag’s arrival, the veteran saw himself demoted to the bench with the Dutch coach preferring Marcus Rashford as the solitary striker. Before the World Cup, Ronaldo scored just one goal in 10 2022-23 Premier League appearances and two in the Europa League. Meanwhile, he grabbed two assists in the UEFA Europa League.
