John Allan has decided to step down as chairman of Tesco after the allegations over his behavior. He will be leaving Tesco in June after completing eight years in the role.

A report published in the Guardian claimed that Allan had touched a Tesco employee at an annual shareholder meeting last year. It also alleged that he grabbed an employee at a CBI event in 2019. He is also accused of commenting about a CBI staff member’s dress and back in 2021. However, Allan has clearly denied all the allegations and said “there is no findings of wrongdoings”.
Allan’s decision to step down has created a lot of attention to his personal life as well.

Allan is a British businessman, born on August 20, 1948. Previously, he served as president and vice president of the Confederation of British Industry. He served as supermarket chain Tesco chairman for around eight years and is also serving as Chairman for Barratt Developments. He has had experience in different fields which includes retail, logistics and house buildings.

Allan after stepping down from the post said, “It is with regret that I am having to prematurely stand down from my position as chair of Tesco following the anonymous and unsubstantiated allegations made against me, as reported by the Guardian.”
