The Union Public Service Commission has postponed civil services preliminary examination, which was scheduled to held on June 27, amid surge in COVID-19 cases. The exam will be now held on October 10, reports PTI.

Recently, the commission, postponed several exams due to the ongoing COVID crisis.

Other ongoing government recruitment exams like SSC CGL and some exams of SSC CHSL have also been postponed amid the pandemic.

India is currently battling deadliest second wave of coronavirus, reporting over 3 lakh cases everyday.

UPSC conducts exams annually in three stages — preliminary, main and interview — to select officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.

In 2020, UPSC rescheduled the Civil Services exam was from May 31 to October 4, 2020.
