The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) finally showed some clarity on the assessment scheme for classes 10 and 12 board exams. According to the statement released on Monday by the Board, the 2022 examination will be conducted in two parts in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The board announced that a systematic approach will be adopted that will interconnect topics and concepts by experts. The academic year will also be split into two and the examination will be conducted at the end of each term. The syllabus of the exams will not be overlapping. 

This type of examination will assess the learning outcome of the year by basing the questions on core concepts.

For classes 9 and 10, the internal assessment will include three periodic tests, practical work, speaking and listening activities. For classes 11 and 12, the assessment would be unit tests, exploratory activities or projects. The internal assessment will be conducted regardless of the term. 

The board estimated that the Term 1 examination might be conducted between November-December 2021 and Term 2 would be around March-April 2022. 

The official statement also read that the internal assessment will include more practical work and the marks will be given on the project work. 

The student would have to create a student profile where they have to digitally retain the evidence of the project and file work done by them during the academic year. 

CBSE had also said that they will assist the school in uploading the marks of internal assessment on the CBSE website. The IT platform is being used by schools to upload the grade of class 11 and 12 students. 

The Board will also be providing schools with additional resources such as sample assessments and teacher training for systematic internal assessments. 

In the statement, the board added, %u201CThe online classes will continue till the authorities permit in-person mode of teaching in schools”.

Earlier, the board had cancelled the exams for class 10 and 12 students due to the raging pandemic.
