Captain America: New World Order got a new logo at the D23 Expo at Anaheim, on Friday. Sam Wilson is the new Cap, as seen in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but not a lot has been divulged about the new hero, and Wilson didn’t appear in other MCU works either. However, with this, the character will likely play a more central role, including a larger Phase 5 presence.

The new Captain America has been fashioned a bit like Rocky and is the underdog in the world he inhabits after the events of Avengers: Endgame. “I think, he’s not Steve Rogers and I think that’s a good thing”, movie producer Nate Moore told ComicBook’s podcast, adding, “Because to me, this new Cap is Rocky. He’s going to be the underdog in any situation. He’s not a super soldier. He’s not a hundred years old. He doesn’t have the Avengers. What happens with this guy who announces publicly kind of, without the support, ‘I’m new Captain America.’ What happens next? I think is fascinating because he’s a guy. He’s a guy with wings and a shield, but he is a guy. So, we’re going to put him through the wringer and make him earn it, and see what happens when he is outweighed, outclassed, out-everything. What makes somebody Captain America? I’m going to argue it’s not being a super soldier. And I think we’re going to prove that with Mackie and Sam Wilson.”

The new logo has a star which is iconic to the MCU character. Chris Evans’ Rogers also had a star on his shield. However, Falcon gets a pair of wings to indicate his difference from the previous Captain America.

Sebastian Stan, who plays Winter Soldier, had also told Yahoo in a separate interview that Wilson’s story reminds him of Rocky Balboa’s in many ways.
