Emmy-winning American comedian, actor, and writer Larry Wilmore will host this year’s Podcast Academy Awards. Also known as the Ambies, the award function is scheduled to take place on March 7, 2023, in Las Vegas.

The awards show will take place at the International Theatre in Las Vegas. The ceremony and the awards pre-show will be live-streamed on the interactive live-streaming platform Twitch, starting at 4:30 pm P.T.

“Larry’s prolific body of work and unique humor spans the stage, screen, and podcasting. To say that we are lucky to have him host this year’s Ambies is an understatement. He’s an icon in his own right. We cannot wait to see — and hear — what he will bring to the ceremony,” said Donald Albright, chairperson of The Podcast Academy and CEO of Tenderfoot TV.

At present, Wilmore is the host of The Ringer Podcast Network show Black on the Air. The show has featured guests like Regina Hall, B.J. Novak, Kerry Washington, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Judd Apatow, Wanda Sykes, and others.

Wilmore is also the co-creator of Insecure, the American comedy-drama TV series, and has also hosted his own limited series late-night talk show, Wilmore.

The 2022 Podcast Academy Awards were hosted by Ross Mathews and Nikki Boyer and was held at The Mayan in Los Angeles on March 22 last year. The podcast 9/12 (Pineapple Street Studios, Amazon Music, and Wondery) were awarded the Podcast of the Year prize. Rosamund Pike also earned an award for her performance in QCode’s Edith. American radio journalist Sam Sanders also earned an award for his work as a host on It’s Been a Minute, a pop-culture podcast and radio show he started in 2017.
