In 2016, a lawsuit was filed anonymously, where the plaintiff alleged that her then-husband had assaulted her on a private plane. The parties in the suit were revealed earlier in August to be Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Puck reported many years ago that Jolie had told an FBI agent that Pitt “physically and verbally assaulted” her and their kids, while they were aboard the plane. According to the agent’s notes from the time, Pitt allegedly took Jolie to the rear of the plane where he grabbed her by the shoulders and shouted sentences like “You’re f**king up this family”. The Changeling actor also alleged that on the same flight, there was another physical altercation, at which point she sustained injuries, including on her elbow.

The 47-year-old had accused Pitt of drinking at the time and pouring beer on her, but Pitt’s legal team denied all allegations.

When the special agent met with the assistant U.S. attorney, they decided not to pursue the case against Pitt, causing Jolie to anonymously file a Freedom of Information Act suit against the FBI, to get the information from the investigation into Pitt.

Jolie’s complaint, amended in August, reads, “Ms Doe has been seeking the withheld information for [several] years in an effort to ensure that her children receive qualified…care and… counselling to address harm suffered…Information withheld by DOJ and the FBI contains evidence of the harm. The persistent denial of that information to Ms Doe…a victim of the assault herself — has hampered, and continues to hamper, her efforts to obtain for her children necessary ongoing care and medical attention, and has further harmed the children in the family law system.”

Pitt was reportedly investigated in 2016 for child abuse by both the FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services following an incident on the family plane. The 58-year-old actor allegedly got physical with his son, Maddox, who was 15 at the time, when he intervened in a fight between Pitt and Jolie.

Pitt’s team issued a statement, as per People, where they denied the actor hurt his son. It read, “He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed. He did not hit his child in the face in any way. He did not do that; he is emphatic about that. He put his hands on him, yes, because the confrontation was spiralling out of control.”

Soon after this incident Pitt and Jolie got divorced and the former gave up drinking publicly. No charges have been filed against Pitt.
