NFL star Aaron Rodgers surprised everyone in February 2021 by announcing his engagement. Though he did not name his fiancée at the time, people were quick to guess that it was none other than ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ actor Shailene Woodley. Recently, the actor opened up about the way how they announced their engagement only so that the media wouldn’t break the big news before them.

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Woodley said, “When we announced that we were engaged, we wanted to do that only because we didn’t want someone else to do it before we did.”

She went on to reveal that the couple got engaged months before the official announcement was made and wanted to keep it a secret for as long as they could. 

“And we didn’t do it for months and months after we had become engaged, but the reaction to it was really a lot, and so we were like, ‘Let’s just politely decline [to talk about the relationship] for a little while and live in our little bubble,” the Divergent actor added.

Talking about her early days of courtship and how difficult it was to maintain h relationship living in two different cities while ducking the media attention, Woodley said, “We were really able to get to know one another the way we wanted to get to know one another and not have any noise or chaos around us.”

For the unversed, Shailene Woodley lives in Los Angeles while Aaron Rodgers is a Green Bay resident. The couple reportedly moved together just months after meeting.

However, coming back to the engagement, it was noted that several celebrities played part in bringing these two together.  During the engagement announcement, the Green Bay Packers Quarterback thanked many people for their support, including Jodie Foster, giving rise to speculations that the 58-year-old Oscar winner may have set the two up.

Foster and Woodley were co-stars in their newly released movie ‘The Mauritanian.’
