Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans team up for the upcoming holiday film, ‘Red One’, from Amazon Studios.

The movie is based on an original story from Hiram Garcia, the president of production at Seven Bucks Productions. Variety has reported the film’s premise is “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre”. ‘Red One’ attempts to shoot this year.

Evans will next appear in the Russo brothers’ spy film for Netflix, ‘The Gray Man’. It follows a CIA assassin whose identity remains unknown. When the individual uncovers agency secrets, a psychopathic ex-colleague puts a bounty on their head, setting off a global search. The actor, who departed from his role as Captain America, will also be voicing Buzz Lightyear in the Pixar movie, ‘Lightyear‘.

Meanwhile, Johnson is slated to appear in the ‘Black Adam’ movie, where he will play the titular character. The DC film has long been in the pipeline, and will finally be hitting the screens. Apart from that, the Rock has also signed a new deal with UFC, and the athlete has also spoken about the same.

He said, “I’ve put so much heart, blood, sweat and respect into the brand [Project Rock] because its a reflection and an anchor of who I am in my DNA. But beyond I think the brand exposure and these two brands coming together, it’s deeper than that to me… The fighters, the men and women, they’re the hardest workers in the room. They are the ones who walk the walk. They are the champions so it’s an honor and privilege for them to be wearing Project Rock.”

‘Red One’ will be directed by Jake Kasdan, who’s previously worked with Johnson on the ‘Jumanji’ franchise. The film is written by Chris Morgan, who Johnson has also worked with during his time in the ‘Fast and Furious‘ movies. These include ‘Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw,’ ‘The Fate of the Furious,’ ‘Furious 7,’ ‘Fast & Furious 6’ and ‘Fast Five’.
