Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill was taken into custody in Michigan on suspicion of domestic abuse earlier this year. Hill was put into a Kent County jail on November 27 and was later released on the same day. Prosecutors, however, have only filed one misdemeanor allegation of severe domestic violence against the 32-year-old. James, his brother, is the purported victim; however, at this time, not much is known about the specifics of the fight.

In January, Hill won the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 283 over Glover Teixeira, marking the apex of his UFC weight class. Nevertheless, an Achilles tendon rupture in July ended his time with the title, forcing him to relinquish it. At UFC 295 last month, Alex Pereira won the vacant title. Before his apprehension, Hill was expected to fight Pereira for the championship when he healed from his wound.
