Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, said that comedian Chris Rock invited the entrepreneur to open for one of his shows. “I will try not to flounder too much”, the 51-year-old added.

If Musk does open for Rock’s show, it could be on November 8, when the comedian performs at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, where the entrepreneur lives. The upcoming show is part of Rock’s Ego Death World Tour.

Musk, who reinvented electric cars and is trying to send humanity to Mars through his SpaceX project, happens to have a funny side as evidenced through numerous tweets. The world’s richest man once said standup is his side-hustle and has hosted an episode of the comedy show, Saturday Night Live

There, the South African-born innovator gave the audience an example of his sense of humour and self-reflectively commented that he sometimes posted strange things and apologized if he offended anyone. However, Musk quickly followed it up, saying that the way his brain worked – as seen in his impressive achievements – would one really expect him to be a “chilled normal dude?”

Rock, later speaking on the Live Kelly and Ryan show, shared his experience of attending the SNL after-party. He said it was “cool” and praised Musk. The Fargo Season 4 actor also noted that there was no need for backlash against Musk hosting the show, adding that Rock had attended and found the entrepreneur to be “funny”.

Musk, who’s not shy of sharing opinions, had his own take when Rock was slapped by actor Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars, for an inappropriate joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett’s alopecia

He replied “tick tock” to an individual who commented on how the award ceremony became a reflection of the “cult of celebrity”.

Elsewhere, Musk got in on the meme bandwagon that came on the heels of Smith’s slap but added his own take on the issue.

He posted a meme about having seen too many similar posts on Will Smith’s slap, in reply to a person who’d put up yet another picture referencing the Academy Awards ceremony incident.

The meme format is from the game Dark Souls, whose spiritual successor – Elden Ring – happens to be Musk’s recent favourite game.
