Canadian comedy series Schitt’s Creek swept this year’s Emmys with seven awards in a row. The Netflix show has created history as it has won the most Emmys in a show’s final season. The record was earlier held by Frasier whose last season won six Emmys in 2004.

Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy won in the best actress and actor in a comedy series categories, respectively. The show picked up the Emmys for Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series.

Schitt’s Creek’s directors Andrew Cividino and Dan Levy won the award for Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series.

Dan Levy and Annie Murphy won in the best supporting actor and actress in a comedy series categories, respectively.

The series continued with its sweep with its seventh award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Other than the seven awards, the show has won two Creative Arts Emmys as well.

The show has 15 nominations at the Emmys this year.

The 72nd Emmy Awards is unlike its previous editions. It’s the first such event to be held during the coronavirus pandemic. The event doesn’t feature a red carpet or fancy gowns.

What it does feature is a host broadcasting from an empty theatre in Los Angeles and celebrities attending the virtual events from their homes.
