Liam Payne has been battling a serious health issue, one he says he wouldn’t wish on his worst enemy, and it’s causing him to have to cancel his upcoming tour.

The One Direction singer posted the message to fans Friday, saying, “It’s with a heavy heart I have to tell you that we have no other choice but to postpone my upcoming tour of South America.”

A severe kidney ailment has forced singer Liam Payne to postpone his upcoming tour.

After being transported to the hospital, the One Direction singer cancelled appearances in South America.

Following his scare, the 29-year-old claimed he would “rest and recover” as his doctor had instructed.

In an effort to reschedule the live performances, he apologised to the fans who had purchased tickets.

Fans who had bought tickets would be refunded, Payne said, adding that he was “working to reschedule the tour”.

“Please look out for updates from your point of purchase,” he said. “Thanks as always for the love and support, and look forward to seeing you soon.”

In an accompanying video addressing fans, Payne told fans: “This really is the last news I want to be telling you… We started rehearsals and I’ve been advised that now is really not the right time to be travelling on the road while I recover from this.

“I’ve got the best people around me at home trying to help me recover as we speak.”

In 2010, Payne became a member of One Direction after being paired with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson on the ITV talent show The X Factor.

Best Song Ever, What Makes You Beautiful, Kiss You, Steal My Girl, and Live While We’re Young were among the group’s later singles.

On the tour, Payne was scheduled to perform in Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina.
