BTS fans were sent into a frenzy on social media after it was confirmed that popular K-pop band member Jimin was going to attend Met Gala this year. While there were rumors that he and RM from BTS would attend, his attendance was made official on Monday.

The news was confirmed through a post by Eyes Magazine, which posted a photo of Karl Lagerfeld, the late fashion designer who will be honored through the theme of this year’s event. However, more than the photo, it was the caption that caught’s people’s eyes. The English translation of the caption read: “Right today, the world’s largest fashion charity event Pop Gala hosted by <Vogue (@voguemagazine)> will be held. The theme of the 2019 event honoring the small Carl Lagerquint: Line of Beauty will be ‘Carl Lagerquent: Line of Beauty’. The list of participating celebs is expanding, and foreign affairs are marking the attendance of Black Pink Jennie (@kimkardashian), Rihanna (@badgalriri), Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) & Rose (@jennierubyjane (@roses_are_rosie), BTS Jimin.”

The last name sent BTS and Jimin fans into overdrive on Twitter and they started sharing screenshots of the Instagram post and the caption on Twitter. Here are a few excited reactions:

Met Gala is taking place this year on Monday, May 1 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This year’s theme, which was unveiled in September last year is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” which promises to “examine the life” of the late designer’s fashion. The attendees have been notified that the “most authentic approach” would be for attendees “to wear an archival look from one of the labels Lagerfeld led”.

However, they also have the freedom to choose a “modern-day” look by Chanel or Fendi. Both the brands were places where Lagerfeld once worked as a creative director. There is also a third option. Guests are recommended to “find a Choupette,” which is the name of the designer’s beloved Birman cat.
