The Yellow color milestones are used for National Highways. National highways are those roads whose construction and maintenance are done by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

India has a 151,019km long national highway network as of 2021. They connect different cities in different states. National Highways constituted 2.7% of India’s total road network. They are designated with NH. North-South-East-West Corridor (NS-EW corridor) and Golden Quadrilateral (GQ) are formed by these highways.

The longest National Highway in India is NH44. This runs between Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, and Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu and covers a distance of 3,806 kilometers (2.365 miles).

As per the records of the year 2016, the total length of state highways in the country at present is 1.76 lakh km.
