Ibrahim Khan Lodhi was the last Sultan of the Delhi Sultanate. He became the Sultan in 1517 after the death of his father Sikandar Khan Lodhi. 

He was the last ruler of the Lodhi dynasty, reigning for none years until 1526, when he was defeated and killed at the Battle of Panipat by Babur’s invading army, giving way to the emergence of the Mughal Empire in India. In the battle, Lodhi forces were tarnished with over 20,000 killed and many more wounded and captured. The era of Mughal rule commenced for the next 331 years. 

Ibrahim Khan Lodhi’s tomb is situated near the tehsil office in Panipat, close to the Dargah of Sufi saint Bu Ali Shah Qalandar. In 1866, The tomb was relocated by the British during the construction of the Grand Trunk Road and renovated it with an inscription highlighting Ibrahim Khan Lodhi’s death in the Battle of Panipat. He also built a Khwaja Khizr Tomb in Sonipat in 1522. 

Babur was the founder of the Mughal Empire in the Indian subcontinent. He was given the posthumous name of Firdaws Makani. Babur died in 1530 in Agra and Humayun succeeded him. Babur was first buried in Agra but, as per his wishes, his remains were moved to Kabul and reburied. Babur ranks as a national hero in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
